Real-time Curvature Estimation on Deformable Models
نویسنده
چکیده
Surface curvature and its derivative are used in a number of applications including non-photorealistic line drawing techniques. CPU algorithms for estimating curvature are a reasonable choice for static models, but curvature estimates for deformable models must be recomputed every frame. For many deformable models, for example those using vertex blending, the deformed model is only ever present in the GPU. We introduce a GPU algorithm for estimating curvature on any model using the programmable geometry shader. Estimation of Source Location Using Curvature Analysis
A quadratic surface can be fitted to potential-field data within 3×3 windows, which allow us to calculate curvature attributes from its coefficients. Phillips (2007) derived an equation depending on the most negative curvature to obtain the depth and structural index of isolated sources from peak values of special functions. They divided the special functions into two categories: Model-specific...
متن کاملDecoupled Deformable Model For 2D/3D Boundary Identification
The accurate detection of static object boundaries such as contours or surfaces and dynamic tunnels of moving objects via deformable models is an ongoing research topic in computer vision. Most deformable models attempt to converge towards a desired solution by minimizing the sum of internal (prior) and external (measurement) energy terms. Such an approach is elegant, but frequently mis-converg...
متن کاملGrasping and Tracking Using Constant Curvature Dynamic Contours
In this paper we present our constant curvature dynamic contours (snakes) and three applications of these: visual servoing and grasping, occluding contour depth extraction, and localization of miniature mobile robots. For the first application, a novel deformable contour model is implemented for the automatic determination of plausible grasp axes of unknown objects using an eye-in-hand robotic ...
متن کاملIn Defence of RANSAC for Outlier Rejection in Deformable Registration
This paper concerns the robust estimation of non-rigid deformations from feature correspondences. We advance the surprising view that for many realistic physical deformations, the error of the mismatches (outliers) usually dwarfs the effects of the curvature of the manifold on which the correct matches (inliers) lie, to the extent that one can tightly enclose the manifold within the error bound...
متن کاملDeformable model with a complexity independent from image resolution
We present a parametric deformable model which recovers image components with a complexity independent from the resolution of input images. The proposed model also automatically changes its topology and remains fully compatible with the general framework of deformable models. More precisely, the image space is equipped with a metric that expands salient image details according to their strength...
